• Learning in elementary school today isn’t limited to math, history or the fine arts: music is an important component as well. Not only because of its aesthetic and cultural value, but as a way to improve students’ behavior as well as their motivation, concentration, ability to work in teams and self-expression skills. “Music ‘can boost wider learning,’” according to the BBC, quoting a new report commissioned by the Federation of Music Services (UK). “Learning a musical instrument at primary school can boost a child’s confidence and learning in other areas.”

We haven’t conducted this kind of research yet ourselves, but the fact remains: Driving Kids offers “Piano Truck,” a free educational music game for kids. Thus students can play the piano online with their friends, sisters or brothers… or math teacher, mom or dad. Now you know that it’s good not only for training an ear for music!

  • Sometimes it seems like teenagers lose touch with their parents. But it only seems that way, and the real state of things comes to light in due time…

”School burnout among adolescents shows correlation with parental work burnout” is the dramatic conclusion about family relationships in research supported by the Academy of Finland. Stress and burnout, as shown by the researchers’ results, are usually shared between mother and daughter and between father and son.

So if you begin to notice that your child has symptoms of school burnout — “a chronic school-related stress syndrome that is manifested in fatigue, experiences of cynicism about school and a sense of inadequacy as a student” — look at your own situation first. Truly, our kids are our own best and fairest mirror.

What can be useful for getting over this difficulty, from the point of view of Driving Kids? First of all, talk to your child! Just chat with him or her, share your own troubles, listen to your child’s feelings and try to remember the last time you were so close to each other. And then try to do something together — anything from washing dishes to playing chess.

Or just maybe you’re now ready to appreciate Driving Kids’ multiplayer games in a new way? :)
