Learning in elementary school today isn’t limited to math, history or the fine arts: music is an important component as well. Not only because of its aesthetic and cultural value, but as a way to improve students’ behavior as well as their motivation, concentration, ability to work in teams and self-expression skills. “Music ‘can boost wider learning,’” according to the BBC, quoting a new report commissioned by the Federation of Music Services (UK).
“Learning a musical instrument at primary school can boost a child’s confidence and learning in other areas.”
We haven’t conducted this kind of research yet ourselves, but the fact remains: Driving Kids offers “Piano Truck,” a free educational music game for kids. Thus students can play the piano online with their friends, sisters or brothers… or math teacher, mom or dad. Now you know that it’s good not only for training an ear for music!
