Success and education have much in common! Although it is not always a wide-known fact.
For example, many of us might remember Shakira’s stirring songs, but have you known that she’s loved by youngsters not only for her songs but for her contribution to the kids’ education? “She’s spending millions on schools in her home country and beyond,” was noticed in the weekend interview with her in The Wall Street Journal.
“Today, Shakira’s focus is on how to help Latino children in the U.S,” they write. The pop music star isn’t just a sponsor who sends cheque or two for some charity needs: she’s involved in improving the situation with kids’ education and upbringing with heart and mind. The singer, who two years ago was named among fourth the richest women-musicians, have first-hand knowledge of a sad state. She grew up in a Colombian city where about a half of the population lived under the poverty line. “…I see myself in those children,” Shakira said.
Our kids are sensitive enough to their idols’ example… And, unfortunately, to the appealing to big money. So, when the next time your youngster try to slip away from lesson or to “forget” about homework’ doing, tell him the amount of money Shakira invests in the children education and ask him whether she does it if the education weren’t such a cool thing?
